It's 104 degrees here right now with about 70% humidity so I'm "celebrating" (more like hoping and praying really hard for) a quick end of summer with pictures from last winter.

Shadows - In the Fence - Cat Tracks

Ah, what I wouldn't give for a few square feet of that snow now.  :-)

P.S.  We don't have air conditioning.  What fun.

I took this photo a few years ago using black and white film. It's had no photoshop or other enhancements, it just turned out this way. I've always enjoyed it and hoped you guys might, too.

Help! I'm an idiot!

Sorry to post this here but I can't figure out how to get a "signature" photo to post with my replies. It's the right size and everything but in my preferences it doesn't list anything but "none" next to the picture box. Any advice?

Not quite up to the challenge...

This picture,Wasp in the Morning, doesn't really count for the challenge as it was taken earlier this year. I enjoyed it, though, and it was taken with a flash.

Trying nature in black and white

I love nature, love black and white photos, I figured it was a match made in heaven. So I took a few days (and a friend's camera) to attempt capturing local wildflowers in early spring. These I found within walking distance of my house.

violet, close-up

twins in clover

lily leaf and rain

pink crocus

(Note: These are not large pictures, roughly 400 x 400, so please don't expect full-screen shots. These photos were cropped and compressed months ago with convenience in mind, not the ramifications of re-sizing on artistic impact. My apologies.)

Oops, I think I lost a gallery...

I created a small gallery yesterday but it seems I've misplaced it as I can't find it now. Am I simply overlooking something or is there more to it than I thought? (I'm new, in case that isn't brutally apparent.) Thanks. :-)

Hi, I'm new and still feeling my way around the site. Mostly I hope to find inspiration and feedback. With any luck, I will be able to give the same. I'm dreadfully new to the field and still working from a small 35mm camera with little zoom and a meter proximity limit (though I did snag a friend's camera for a week and get some decent close-ups). I usually focus on nature, landscape, and odds-and-ends but have experimented with other ideas. Thank you for letting me join and I look forward to any comments or suggestions.
