He is not an albino, I have been trying to photograph this guy for a long time & finally yesterday I got some decent pictures of him.

    1. Who the heck is that. 2. Maybe if I turn my back they'll go away. Crap, guess not. 3. Fine I'll just leave... 4. Wonder where they parked their car (evil bird laugh) Cool set.

Bugaboo, you're easily amused! Great shots... never seen a white one before. Could be prematurely gray... that happened to me when I was about 50.

DGitAL I think it is just a Red Tailed Hawk without normal color pigments. Like a white tiger. I'm really not sure, Maybe Rockadee or Jimmyneutron, or someone else may know more.

I know with other birds that have color varitations like that they are called pied. (I don't know if I spelled that right) Also that is the case with deer. But I think they call deer pieballed. That is a mix between albino and a regular deer. I don't know maybe it is the same with the hawk. Great capture. Take as many shots as possible of this one. Such a rare thing to see. Great shootin'!

The symbolism associated with the sighting of such a bird can be interpreted in many ways. The hawk has long been a symbol for aristocracy, pride, and monastic life. White being a symbol of purity.......I might have to do some myth research on this.
