Theme and a Whazzit...

By KayN written 10/16/05 6:17 PM, published 10/16/05 6:17 PM
I'm TRYING to get the theme done...I was downtown yesterday, and saw these Dummies hanging around...
I've thought long and hard about the celebrate part.  With all that's going on in the world, some in our own "backyards", I'm just thankful that God has allowed me to be spared.  To be able to get up every morning, live a somewhat worry-free life, be able to see the sights around me, hear the birds singing, have a family that's so close we're almost "meshed" together.  Suffer hardships, but always knowing that He will get me through them....I could go on and on.  Just being alive and appreciate all that's been given to me is cause for me to celebrate.

Now, for the "whazzit".  I found this today and it startled me at first.  I'd never seen anything like it.  It was about 4 inches long, and easily 1/2 inch in diameter.  I googled, and I think it might be either a hummingbird sphinx or a small eyed sphinx.  Can anybody help me figure out whazzit?  Thanks!  FYI: no creatures were harmed during or after the taping of this series.
Hope y'all enjoy!

Tomato Horn Worm. Ahh Maybe I'm wrong. I just guessed

    - Still a Moose

  • Porkchop
Not sure exactly what it is. BUt it looks like the caterpillar one of our esteemed peers took photos of as it went through metamorphosis. These are outstanding photos. The colors are wonderful. Well done! Hey moose. I just googled "Hornworm" If this is one its a juvenile. It lacks the same markings I saw on the photos in this site: http://creatures.ifas.ufl.edu/field/hornworm.htm

Nice shots Kay. If Jimmy says it is a horn worm, I am sure that is correct. What does it develop into Jimmy?

You're right, KayN. Most of us have a lot to be thankful for. Every once in a while we need to remember that. The Celebrate gallery was my favorite. I always like skies, clouds and reflections. Very nice!

The species I mentioned are in the horn worm family...they sounded more like what this one looked like to me than any others in the list. I was just curious if I had found the right name of the species....and, yes, what they turn into.....

Thanks, all! Porkchop, I went to that site, and the "horn" on those worms wasn't the same color as this one....does that matter? And, I have no vegetation growing here like was mentioned there.....

Have to agree, laughed when I saw ma and pa. good capture on the "worm" We get so busy sometimes that we take things for granted, but we do need to slow now and appreciate each day that is given to us, our family, friends, home, job, it is never ending.

    - Blessings

I like the whazzit's funny little legs and feet. And I to appreciate all I have in this life everyday. And I vow to do my best to pay it forward in the next generation.
