What Made Me Who I Be

It all started on a Wednesday afternoon in 1971.  I was born.  I was quite the Popup Linkbathing beauty.  It was rumored I was a very Popup Linkmischevious child.  I don't know Popup Linkwhy they said such things.

I was raised in the delta region of Arkansas.  My family grew soybeans, rice and Popup Linkcotton.  Most of the toys my sister and shared were Popup Linkorganic.

I did an awful mean Popup LinkJohn Denver impersonation.  I enjoyed being on the Popup Linkfarm.

As I grew older, I loved being Popup Linkcenter stage.  And I was quite the Popup Linkfashionista.  My mom eventually quit taking pictures and made me the family Popup Linkphotographer.

Then came the dark years.  My late teens and early twenties.  I self-medicated myself to memory block.  During this time, my dad had an emergency quadruple-bypass heart surgery.  My mother died of a brain tumor.  I gained a lot of weight, enjoyed too many classes of alcohol...and had a very horrible hangnail.

Over the last few years I lost a dramatic amount of Popup Linkweight, found Popup Linkunconditional love and started taking my happy pills.

Chef, I thought I was the only one in the world that knew the words to that McCartney song. Jo, nice look into your past. You certainly looked like trouble in your younger years. Congrats on True Love, BTW.

  • Ahem. "You fill up my senses, like a night in the forest. Da da da da da in springtime, like a do de da in the rain." Close your eyes and I bet you hear John Denver. Too bad about the SS Minnow though. Anyway, Jo, what a wonderful way to incorporate your story with pictures. And I agree with Kristy those old shots are great. Thanks for sharing.
