There has been lots of construction on the freeways around here, so I've started Popup Linktaking the backroads to work. I bring my camera with me just in case I see something worthwhile. This is a Popup Linksilhouette of a tree I shot this morning. This is one Popup Linkon the way home. Now that winter is coming I have to get used to driving in when it's dark and driving home when it's dark. I'm not sure I'll go back to the freeways though.  I'm really enjoying my backroads drive. BTW, you may notice by the picture titles that I got mixed up on my last FTP upload.

  • That makes it worth getting out of bed to go to work. Beautiful sky! I liked the silhouette shot the best.

  • I liked the first one, the sun shining through the trees. Can't you just wait till the snow starts to fly and the temp drops below zero? were did you take these?

  • The first two were shot on or around McGinty Road in Minnetonka, MN. The third was shot in Plymouth, MN. Yes, I too am one of those crazy Minnesotans that loves winter. I love those incredibly clear, cold days when the sky seems so blue as to seem unreal.

  • Second shot is great! It made me think, "there is hope for a new day..." Don't know why.....maybe because it has been gray and rainy here for the last couple of weeks.... UGH!!!! But, your picture gave me hope!

Great post, back roads always turn out to be the best ones....as long as they're left the way they are...

I love to take the back roads. Our back roads are still mostly dirt roads. Nice shots.

  • It's good to travel the backroads sometimes--gives a better perspective of things--time to reflect and enjoy what we have. Like traveling in the first picture the best--with the sun glaring through the trees
