Feedback on Cropping...Black and White

Anna and I took a bike ride this morning on the Luce Line. I captured some images and then worked with them a little in iPhoto to try different crops and B&W versions.

Here is the Popup Linkfirst uncropped version of grass against the sky. I tried Popup Linka tighter crop of that one. Here is another Popup Linkvertical crop of that one. Popup LinkHere is another original and here is Popup Linka tighter crop.

Here is Popup Linka meadow in color and here it is in Popup Linkblack and white. Here's another Popup Linkcolor shot of the meadow and here's Popup Linkthat same shot in black and white. One last shot of the Popup Linkmeadow in color and the Popup Linkblack and white version.

I like to experiment with different things and appreciate the feedback I get from folks here. I was hoping to have the grass stand out more against the sky, but with minimal time in iPhoto this is what I got.

Since you asked, as long as the heavier stick stays in the grass shot, you're fine. When you lose it, you lose your focal point. The grass is just too wispy and random to hold the image. The meadow shots seem too flat in B&W but they aren't bad in color. Would like to see something that guides my eye through though. But the grasses especially are nice shots.

I like the vertical crop of the grass best. As for the "meadow" shots, I wasn't impressed with any of them....nothing to draw me in.

I like the grass shots just the way the original is.

enjoyable scenery. Yeah, iPhoto is good for basic stuff but can't really "add" to a photo.
