Wow!  So yeah.  I've changed some stuff!  What the heck did Cory do!?
The Look
I've change our format to a modified 3-column layout.  If you can belive it, this new layout actually has more space on the page for content then the old one.  I might move some of the info on that around a bit as time goes on.

The Dashboard
The dashboard is the central location to view and change everything about you.  From the dashboard you can create new posts, upload images, change your profile, check your mail & sales, and whatever else pertains to you.

Please note that everything that was formerly on the left "My Account" box has now moved into your dashboard.

The Store
The store finally works again.  I've a minor, but significant improvement to navigating the tons of images stored there.

Navigation
I've improved the navigation through images and other lists such as stories and tags.

[editor's note, by coryking] I've bumped this to the top for a while cause I really need your honest opinion on the look of the left (or was it right!?) column. I've been told it looks akward.

Update [2005-11-10 15:33:24 by coryking]: I've made the logo larger. I think that the smaller size wasn't in good proportion to the larger column.

  • I've been feeling my way around for a little bit...trying to get used to the new format. So, in having to go to the dashboard for whatever we want to do, does this mean that we won't know, just by getting on the site, if we have pm's? Do we have to go to dashboards/mail to find this out? The look is much neater....but the gallery is still broke....I know you're a busy man and it'll get fixed eventually....thanks for all you do, Cory!

  • There is a "You've got mail" below the "Your Account" on the right. It only shows when you've got new messages. It's not that prominent right now, so I'll make it more so. The gallery is next on the list. I've been meaning to do the dashboard for a while...

  • A divider in the right column beween the two colums of info might help to make the whole thing less cluttered. Overall, change is good. Change is good. Change is good. (If I say it enough times it becomes true)

  • I agree about the divider to reduce the clutter. I think the background color is too dark as well, which makes it more cluttered then it seems.

  • Me again. I Like the lighter color and I also like the Info on the left side. The "Dashboard" idea is killer! I also appreciate the easier image navigation. However, (theres always that pesky however after the praise isn't there. . . hmmm) may I suggest you put all of the categories of info in one line. With 30 posts you have plenty of room to make a 20/80 (Left/right) split and list everything without it letting lost at the bottom of the page. This will give prominence to the posts and put the "admin" features at easy reach. I will leave the order that you stack them in up you you. (and others if they agree with me)

  • I think the norm these days is for navigation on the left side and ads and other extra fluff on the right. At least, that's the way that I think when I look at a page.Two columns of navigation right together makes it too hard to find what you're looking for. (But that being said, it's great that you are trying to improve and are taking comments. Thanks.)

  • Oh, hey, I just noticed that now we can see the credits for the random pic in the upper left corner. Very cool. I've often wondered how to find out who did a certain pic. Good idea.

  • thanks for all that is being done, but one of the things I see right now that I don't like is the color that shows when the site is first opened--on my moniter the color looks pale green/yellow--

  • I'll tweak it tommorow. it really didn't take much time to lay it out the way it is now so it's no burden to change, or even revert back to the original. I appreciate all of your honesty. When you stare at something for too long, you loose the ability to stand back and say "wow... this sucks!". The lady has yet to see it... heh

  • Rachel, you can view the site with larger text by holding down the option key and pressing the "plus sign" a couple of times. At least, that's the way I do it on my PowerBook. It might help, and doesn't screw up the page at all.

  • I want to see the TAG ( Lens Lenses ) . Being, what's a camera with them? I want to see any new hits if clicked on. The dash board could have the alphabet drop down menu, click on L, Lens, and go to that group. Or a search bar.
