Well I was inspired by Paulamouse, (I'm always inspired by you Paul especially the love you have for Cindy) with his star photos and the followup by peektar.

Now these two shots are not great artistically but were a fun excersize I tried back in 2001 in a trip to Zion and Yellowstone NP. They were both shot around Midnight with a near to full moon. If I remember correctly they were shot with Fuji Film ASA 400 and stopped down a bit but well over a minute exposures. I scanned the Negatives with a Dimage' Scanner.
Little grainy, little out of focus but ahh just throwing *#@% against the wall.

The streaks you see are Stars

Think to answer about the shot being so bright at night....if theres a full moon..which gives off a great deal of reflected light , add that to over 1 min. of exposure time ..you get a very brite night shot.....But we already know that Moose is brite day or night.

Moose Man, it is good that you are a man of such sterling character, otherwise I might question your claim that those were night shots. Zion NP is my favorite, a very successful experiment I would say. Amazing the result you got with the moon and 1 minute exposure, very creative.

  • Just to comment on the comment by AH, You may be right but the purpose of these shots were not to shoot the stary night sky, then I would not shoot on a full moon night. The purpose of these shot was to make a daylight looking shot using only Moonlight. Plus, next time I will not be using Film or slides, I will attempt with my 20D
