Before & After

Here's a great solution for a good picture that isn't all that great.

A friend caught us in this moment just before my husband changed into his tux for our wedding. It's one of my favorites of that day -- except for, well, all the stuff around us. Popup LinkOriginal. So, first I "cleaned up" the cabin -- who wants the trash can and a pot of slaw in a wedding photo, right?  Popup LinkRetouch 1. Next I decided to focus on what made this such a good pic - our moment. So, out came the blur filter. Popup LinkRetouch 2 Popup LinkRetouch 3  Popup LinkRetouch 4. And finally a bit of cropping Popup LinkRetouch 5

What do you like best?

I like the original with the mess simply because it's a real moment. You are lost in the moment and oblivious to the mess. I do like 5 but I prefer the original. What a wonderful moment to catch.

I'm with Kathy on this one for similar reasons, the two of you are obviously not worried about the surroundings. Having said that however, if you're looking for a wedding photo to frame and hang on the wall, go with #5 and save the original for your memories

A neat keepsake! Yes, I like the original, but also the last change.

I'd crop the final retouch rather tightly and leave it at that. And, in this case, it's not about technically good photography.

First off, congratulations on your marriage. It's obvious to anyone who can get one eye open that you two are meant to be together. Now to the critique. I would have prefered just a simple crop. A tiny touch of blurring would have been nice to take attention away from the background. As it turned out, the blurring filter that you used actually drew my eye away from the two of you rather than focusing my eye there. That's my two cents worth.

Many thanks for all your congrats -- the eventful day was actually 2 years ago, though my honey still treats me like a newlywed, bless his handsome heart! . Just messing around with some before & after & decided to have a go at a pic we like but didn't think was nice enough for a wall hanger. Merry Christmas everyone!
