Early in Venice

In Augost 2002 I toured Italy, especially in Rome, Florence and Venice. I got to Venice at 6 am with the night train from Rome (an experience of it's own, believe me!) and headed toward San-Marco piazza. On my way, i happen to stumble into an interesting event: an Popup Linkold lady walking very slowly, throwing bread crumbs everywhere and a flock of pigeons flying all around her in total berzerk! This was happening several hours before the rush of tourists through the winding alleys of Venice and the quiet of this beatifull city was broken by the sound of flapping wings and the old lady footsteps...

  • ah, Venice--I was there in September and know exactly what you mean about St Marks in the morning. Absolutely breathtaking. I continually think about going back to Italy, and Venice specifically. It's truly magical! Thanks for stirring it up again with this great shot!
