Rainbow Casa Grande is one of the most recognizable mountains in Big Bend. Casa Grande Again The Lost Mine Trail is one of my favorite hikes. This is what the family looks like when the peak is achieved. Rest Most folks who have been to Big Bend have seen "The Window." Here's what it looks like from the bottom. Window 1Window 2 Those folks at the top are my friend Mike and his wife. I didn't even know he was in the park until I yelled for his email address and recognized it!
wilk / or anyone else: do you do that a lot? take pictures of people and ask for thier email address to send it to them? I've read about that practice somewhere but never got around to trying it out. what kind of responses do you get?
Answers: Johnny, Big Bend is located at the southern tip of Texas where the Rio Grande changes direction. Austin, part of Big Bend National Park is called the Basin and it's basically a big bowl in the mountains that tips slightly to the west. The Window is the outlet so that when it rains, all the water gathers and flows through it. I've uploaded a photo of what it looks like from the top. Simon. . . hardly ever. I did it in this case because to reach the place where my friends were is a 2 to 3 hour hike. To reach where I was is the same and almost no one who visits The Window has a photo of themselves from where I stood.
I have hiked to the window once! It was an easy hike to the window but no one told me it was all up hill to hike out. It took a while and was really hot! In March and before noon! I have never seen the window from below. It is a hike too. Glad to see it and will only see it from wilk's picture. I'm not going there. I'm really not a hiker! Thanks for the picture and you really should put it on the Big Bend website where the pictures of the park are! Thanks wilk you saved me the hike....
