Yesterday, I finally took a walk over to an old cemetary that is near my apartment. I've been wanting to shoot some pictures there since I moved here over 7 months ago, but always shyed away from it. I finally put those feelings of awkwardness aside for photography's sake...

I woke up this morning to a thick fog, due to last night's rain. By the time I got back to the cemetary
Popup Link the fog had already began lifting.

  • clear blue and fog  great stuff...
you'll be pleased to know that if you feel trepidation approaching a cemetery, relax ...
people are actually dying to get in there

  • Love Blue! I always enjoy going to really old cemetarys. I enjoy the architecture of the statues and monuments as well as the history.

  • I got started young going to cemeteries - although family.  Now, I just find them interesting.  You can see how times have changed with the memorials we erect to the departed.  When's the last time someone hoisted a giant angel (as in your pictures) or an obelisk over Joe Blow's grave like they used to?  Blue is gorgeous!  I also liked the perspective on the detailed view.  Fog was just creepy - good but creepy!

  • Thanks for the comments. To date, that is the bluest blue I have ever shot. Camera details:
Olympus E-10, wanna-be Digital SLR. What I mean by that is it's got all the functionality (and is considered a SLR), but the lens is fixed, and cannot be removed. Lens is made by Olympus as well.

  • No doubt about it: that is by far one of the most intense blues I have seen. Great shots and great food for creative though!

  • Rock on! I'm glad you overcame your trepidation. I've found the best time to go is at dawn or dusk; besides the great light you have fewer people about. Very enjoyable shots but I'm partial to the fog shot; it's just gloomy great.
