  • Kamaksi: Basically what you missed as far as the contests go is that every two weeks, on Thursday or Friday night (can't remember which) someone announces a new "theme" or contest. From that time, until two weeks later, everyone can submit photos for that theme. At the same time the theme is announced, the announcer selects the next theme's chooser. To make that simpler. Let's say I announced this current theme. When I announced what the theme would be, I would also announce that <username> would be announcing the next theme. There are no judges, there is no voting. We are all winners ;)

  • Wow...I am long-winded :) The avatars are a feature that would display a user-selected image next to the author's name in the comments. It was working, now it's not.

  • Talk to me about Photoshop. I use a variety of other programs that give me a lot of flexibility. I am seeing Photoshop advertised anywhere from about $59 to in excess of $600. I currently use MGI Photoshop; LView Pro; PhotoImpact 8; Dazzle Photo Editor, and some other minor programs. Do I really need another program?? If it is worth it, why is there such a discrepancy in the pricing?

  • Jack there are two versions of PhotoShop. The light version: Photoshop Elements and the Pro Version: Now, Photoshop CS. Elements is in the $100 Range with some rebates to make it cheaper and CS is in the $600 area. What you also may see are UpGrades to CS that can run Say $125 to $150 range. If you don't think you really want to go much beyond contast/Brightness, Croping and applying a good array of filters, Just get Elements and save the $500 for a new lens. If you really want to get into it and want to do some advanced stuff and need to integrate into other Adobe produacts and say desktop publishing and web design get CS
