con't photoshop technique:
using the "hilite mask" (in Windows) (Alt-Control-~) save selection as hilite mask
you can then copy or cut and paste the hilites of any given image to another
the hilites chosen can be filtered or adjusted (ie contrast hue or color balance)
and layered in any way you see fit...
you can pull the hilite selection out of a solid color...works great for sepia types finishes
the dandelion image was taken with 70-300 Nikkor zoom handheld used as a macro lens....the detail in the short and curlies turned out very well...
some people hate dandelions but i admire their survival skills
