Click this to see the rare Praying Mantis that happened to be on my porch one day. I had a seashell on my porch, and he just walked right on it. This is the perfect shot.

They are pretty rare around where I am, too. Did you know those things can fly? I had no idea until a few years ago...

Yep, we've got plenty, too. (I live just south of St. Louis) When I was out watering the other day, there were HUNDREDS of the babies on one of my statues; kinda freaky looking.....Good shot, BTW!

Nope, not poisonous. We have them (though they're somewhat rare) in the inland Pacific Northwest. They're pretty cool! Nice shot--you found the most photogenic mantis in the US!
