Signed on this AM & saw your post yesterday & all the responses. How awesome! Thanks to you, Hero, (and all of you) who intersperse cool photos with thoughts/questions/poetry etc. to get us to think and "talk" to each other. Okay, enough mushy stuff. Back to photos - what do you think of my Popup LinkMarina picture from a weekend trip to Marina Vallarta? Would have made a great "reflections" entry too, eh? Any recommendations on making a shot like this better?

...I love the reflections, and the beautiful colors against a gray ski.......bravo

  • Beautiful muted colors--very peaceful! My only suggestion would be taking the shot in the landscape orientation too to see what it looked like. I feel like I'm missing something on either side, slightly.

Yep, Austinspace, you're right - what you're missing in the landscape shot is the gaggle of tourists, the golden arches & a few scattered trash bins that hadn't been emptied this early in the morning. A case of "selective zooming"  :-)

It's a good pic, but I think if the mountains were a tad bit more "pronounced", it would be better.

  • Nice. For making it "better" I think the piece of land in the lower right-hand corner could be cropped out. Maybe some slight contrast or level adjustment as well. Something Popup Link like this. The contrast/level adjustment here is the best I could do at work without PS...

  • Your Welcome sball. How nice of you to say. I love the photo and I think Codepoit crop is the same suggestion I would have made. I like the looks of the mountains cause that is how they look in my area at that time of day too. With a slight marine layer in. Very nice! Thanks again.

  • As with all outdoor shots, light can make all the difference in the world. Check back at different times of day to see what presents itself. Nice shot!
