Man, the Chrysler building is TALL!  And, how did you get the detail pic?  Is your zoom that strong, or were you in another building or something?  All are good pics, but my fav is the skyline.  Nice post!

  • The Chrysler bldg is great, to me the Arch is magnificent, would like the skyline with a little less of the water.

All good shots, but it was "Lower Manhattan Skyline" that made me say, "Oh, my!"

I like "Two buildings" the best- I think it's the dynamic composition.

I gotta get back to New York sometime.

  • Thanks, all, for the kind comments; I appreciate the compliments! I should have some more shots soon.

Austinspace and kwsNI, my old commrades, good to see you are still both here! I was/am curious to see who of the people I knew back when still haunt these parts. The three of us (and Cory, of course) may be the only people who remember photographica from when it was blue (somewhere around 1999 or 2000, I believe). I hope you are both doing well. I am now living in Ohio, which is, well, nice.

Tyd still hangs around.  Not too many people from the ancient days, but we've got some kick ass photographers since then too.  It seems like every month, this site gets more and more new, talented photogs.

But it's great to see you back.  I hope you plan on sticking around.  Doesn't look like your photography skills have rusted away.

  • Ohio! Then North Dakota didn't suit you? You'll see the community here is stronger than ever--and the posts are as varied as can be. Again, welcome back! Folks, BrassBear was postin' on this here site before many of you were born!

  • KayN - To answer your question: actually, the photo of the spire of the Chrysler Building was taken from about five blocks away (from the ground), and is cropped from a much larger shot. I was surprised when I got home and saw the full-sized photo, just how much detail existed.

kwsNI - Good to hear tyd is still around, as well. Come to think of it, if someone had asked who I thought would still be here, I would have bet money on Cory, you, austinspace and tyd. You all always seemed the best and most enthusiastic contributors.

  • austinspace- Yeah, I came to Ohio for another grad program, this one in American Culture Studeis at Bowling Green State University. It's actually a pretty nice little town, Bowling Green, and the people are good stuff. if only it were a larger city (where I'm more excited to photograph), than I would have a lot more to shoot pictures of. Ah well. I'm close to Detroit, which I still haven't spent much time photographing. It is ripe.

  • doug- Thanks, man. Good to be back, and good to see another old name (the shot of a massive clump of weed wrapped in a wristwatch will forever be with me). By the way, I dig your avatar.

  • I'm torn between these great shots!  I think I had the strongest reactions to The spire and the detail of the fountain.  Really great shots!
