I like these, but I wonder why EVERYONE on this site praises ALL of the pics. Is there not a sincere critic on this site at all/

  • AH To quote Bruce Hornsby, "That's just the way it is"

I like these, is that the color of the dish/container or did you PS the color? Fun!

  • Also it seems to be an unwritten rule also that unless the person asks to be criticized, you don't.
But in this case, Dini did ask, but nothing that I would criticize. Thanks for asking.

  • To AnyMoose> It's the color of the container. I used PS only for cropping the pic.

  • The site is not a critic's corner, AH. It's a community. We support each other's work. Why not post some pictures and find out for yourself?

Dini, welcome to the site! Very cool first post. I'm also curious about the color--only because the Nikon I use at work tends to "orange up" all whites when I take product shots. I've never attempted these experiments--kudos for your results!

I like the water drops of liquid gold.  But I don't have a macro, so I won't be trying this for awhile.

AH, they do criticize, I have seen them tell that the picture was fuzzy, tilted, needed to be cropped, and all kinds of stuff.

  • These musta been very hard to get.
If you twist my arm and make me scream uncle I'll chose the first one as the best, but if I'd taken any of them I'd be proud.

Welcome aboard. Wonderful first post. IMO, #2 is the best of the lot.

And so AH can see we're not always non-critical, I think you could have gotten the droplet in #3 centered better above the concentric circles. LOL...   :-)

  • nice pics
and they do do criticize as to the quality
of photos in the past they have let me know if
cropped to much, or should be cropped
    if focus is out, ect,

  • Good pictures... I wonder what shutter speed and camera.  I would like to see this details more often.... I guess it is important to me since I amlooking for another camera.

BTW. When I see not so good pictures, I just don't comment. That should be hint  enough for a photographer :-) if she does not get comments. It's bad karme to hurt feelings.

I myself  appreciate tehcomments about tecnicalities once in a while if they are done with  taste and compassion.

Very nice! I'm not sure i could do this ...yet!Welcome to the site.

as far as comments-just look at my first few posts.  There are tons of comments there-some i must say i took to heart, but I soon realized i'm here to learn and that not everything i shoot will be liked by all.

I'm just proud of my own personal progress and I appreciate all that is said.

Great shots...the color almost makes it look like cooking oil.  I need to try that...LOL

  • For Austinspace: I have the same problem with photos "Oranging up" using "Automatic White Balance" on my Canon Digital Rebel. I find using the "Tungsten" WB seting helps shift the whites back toward blue.

For Dini: Excellent work. You have inspired me to try it now. Stay tuned!

  •   Bet  there  will be a lot of water dripping pictures taken to see what one comes up with
Oh, and lil was trying to think what the color reminded me of and have to agree with you--looks like oil.
And there is critizem, which is good, because without it you would not try something different.

Welcome; great first post!  Those are neat pics!  I've often wanted to try and capture something like this, just haven't tried it yet.  You give me inspiration.  I saw nothing wrong with any of the pics, and you can ask a few of them on here, if I've got something to say, I say it.....and constructive criticism for ANY of us is what makes us better; I've had my fair share of it, too.
