I took these pictures the night my Grandma's barn burned.  My husband is on the department and couldn't be there he was at work.  I wish these pics were of my husband but they are of a firefighter friend of ours.  The fire was very intense and the heat was unbelievable.  Popup Linkheat Popup Linkfirefighter Popup Linkfire

Thank you for the concern.  Only a few pigs and a chicken died.  I did have 2 Uncles and a cousin in the barn when it caught on fire.  One was burnt bad enogh he had to go to the hospital  (treated and released) the rest were fine.  I am glad it wasn't any worse.  A LOT of memories were in that barn for a lot of people.  My Grandma had 14 kids and the family all has great memories of the barn.

  • As a member of a  volunteer fire department and an EMT I would like to say that I think those are some of the most powerful photos of fire fighters that I have ever seen.  The thumbnail is fantastic.

    Wow-so powerful these are.

Sorry for the loss of the barn and some animals. I'm glad everyone is okay. You have your memories-keep them close to you.

  • I too loved the first one. Its too bad something has to burn in order to get a shot like this.  But fire just inside the edge of control is always cool.

    Great thumbnail, Penny.

The first image - IMHO - is a fantastic capture worthy of being placed on a fire department calendar.
