Conquer Your Fears Challenge

By LaPineian written 10/29/06 3:20 PM, published 11/2/06 8:41 AM

Well, I have been giving this challenge some thought. Not alot of scary spooky fears for me. But I am a huge fretter. I fret about things that are really out of my control. At the heart of these frets and fears are my children. When I drop themoff at school. The choicesandrisks they take when they think I'm not looking. The fear that every pain is something serious. I battle these frets by sending them to school and on trips without me. By letting them make those risky choices and sometimes suffering the consequences. & Knowing that every pain does not mean something frightful.
I do, however, have a few very basic fears. Fear of fire fear offlyingand fear of  spiders! These I just deal with, as everyone does. Though the flying one has to be tackled here really soon!

These shots have all been taken in the last two months. & were taken more for memories and fun than anything, tho comments & constructive criticism are always welcome.& the thumb is me fretting! =)

Great theme post! Good looking kids... that will make the right decision, most of the time, because of the strong foundation you have created for them! Yuck - spiders!

Isn't it a wonder that our fears for our family don't overwhelm us? It's easier for me now, kids all in their 40's, but there are still the grands! Well done.

Oddly, I don't consider spiders ugly, though I do get a thrill of fear when I see one I don't recognize. The spider shot is striking and the flying shot is surprisingly interesting. very nice post

Nice challenge post, LaP! It's a fine line we walk between being protective and being over-protective. That line usually runs between the Mom and Dad, at least in our house! 8o)

Your fears are my fears, my kids are always foremost with me, every time i hear an ambulance or a firetruck, i need to mentally think of where they are. It is harder than ever now that they are older in some ways and with Sammie's illness I just don't know how to put it in pics...You did really good with this theme post.

Great challenge post LaP! Like most parents I share your fear. I know we have several members that have had to stare that fear in the face. My heart goes out to them.

Yup - kids can be scary... even if it is because we're scared FOR them. Love, love, love your fire picture - I think it is just gorgeous! (I could have done without the gargantuan spider shot though...) :D

Great job on the theme, that is my fears too. My oldest calls me OPMS (overly protective mom syndrome) But when the ex's new wife asks your daughter how she became such a good kid and she says its because of her mom, you know you've done well. Thanks, you have great looking kids. :o)

Thanks everyone, reading the comments has brought some ever ready tears to my eyes. This weekend brought a real fear close to our family. Not my own family but some friends. So hug those you love, smile at those you don't & live for the moment! =)
