Cloudy Skies

The sky is one of my favorite photographic subjects.  Here are a few of my faves:

I live in Tucson, AZ, so there are always nice sunrises and sunsets.
My Backyard
Dusk
Surreal
Sunrise Tucson Mts3

On my last trip to the Bay Area, we went to Mt. Tamalpais.  We were bummed out because the weather was crappy.  Once we got up near the summit, we were out of the clouds, and there were some beautiful shots.
Mt. Tam1
Mt. Tam2
Mt. Tam3
Mt. Tam4 Mt. Tam5

And here's a nice one from Montego Bay
Jamaican Sunset

  • You've got some interesting shots here. I really like dusk. The only suggestion I have would require a little Photoshopping, and that is to bring out more of the detail in the shadows in the foreground. For your foreground to give some perspective you need to be able to see it.

The weather is always crappy by Mt Tam and the Marin Headlands, especially in the summer. Come back in the winter and you will find things much improved. The trick is to learn how to be creative when faced with the reality that there is a huge wall of gray fog sitting smack dab in front of whatever you want to photograph....you've done very well - I like these shots taken looking down on the fog bank!

I love the first four the best. But all of the shots are beautiful. The last shot looks like the horizon is a little off. But it is still fantastic.

  • Thanks for the great comments guys! Tomnorth & Chef, I agree about that photo, but I was trying to stay away from that "photoshopped" look. The lighting conditions were tricky, and I'm not an experienced photographer, so that shot was the best that I could get. If only I'd had my D80 back then...
