Well, I haven't posted for a while and this is why.  Not me thankfully, although I think it might have been easier but, my almost 2 year old Lab, in her eagerness and playful joy, has done it.

We had the surgery on Tuesday and came home last night.  Loaded with tranquilizers and pain meds she is in for 12 - 18 weeks of recovery.  (READ: limited activity. . . . Mom. . . Hold me back)  Ughhh I have my hands full but, the doctor says she'll be back to her old self in no time.  Hah, easy for him to say Ya know, they sure did shave her a lot!

Wish me luck and patience. . .

Are you sure they didn't take her apart and put her back together? Must be $300 worth of bandaging there! Hope she gets well soon.

You can feel her pain, hope everything works out. My little Mischka had surgery for a floating kneecap. I feel for you.

Awwww poor girl. It is hard to keep them quiet and happy after surgery. Good luck to both of you.

I had a husky/wolf hybrid do the same thing, on the same leg. The best part is carrying them outside to potty, but, we do what we must for our "kids". Good luck, and a speedy recovery!

This is a heartwarmer...most people would not be willing to go to this trouble (not to mention expense) to save a dog...but WE are not most people, are we! My compliments to you.

  • jojames1
You are in for some trouble. She already looks like she is ready to hit the door and pretend this never happened. Beautiful dog.

  • MrWiz
good luck, keep us updated I think we are all worried now...

  • bullshoalsview
I am sure she will bounce back better than ever! Young dogs especially heal so quickly.... Keep us posted. Great capture, her face says it all...

Beautiful dog, hope she heals quickly and is a good girl about staying calm. Good luck. Thanks :o)

Thanks again everyone. We all got a little more sleep last night. Phew, I think I might run out of tranqs though. She seems to be building up a tolerance. I just sit with here for about an hour at a time to let her know that she is still loved, she really appreciates having to "cone" off for a while. Her brother Sam is still just a little to SPAZZY and HYPER for him to sit (hah) with her for any amount of time. Will keep you posted in my photolog.

I sure hope that you both can hold out for the day the bandages come off and she's back to being herself. Poor baby!! I hope she heals back to her old self. Pity is, they don't reason things out the way we can and don't understand all the stuff wrapped around her.
