Priscilla, Anna and I got back yesterday from visiting our oldest daughter in Germany, where she is studying abroad this semester. I took hundreds of images, so forcing myself down to 5 for this post was tough, but here they are. This image is of Popup LinkAnna sleeping off jet lag. Peter, Kirstin's host father for the first 10 weeks of her time in Germany took us to a castle.  We had to Popup Linkwait for the tour to begin. Later we walked the old town in Tuebingen. I captured an image of people at an outdoor cafe. Note the Popup Linkwoman sitting at a table all alone. What do you think her story is? I had a chance to walk the Aldstadt (Old Town) of Tuebingen during the early evening hours. That's when I captured this woman Popup Linkhanging out the wash. One of our daytrips included a stop at the Dachau Concentration Camp. The most powerful image I saw was of the Popup Linkwash basins in the barracks. Words cannot describe the feeling of that place, especially the barracks. You can almost feel the presence of the spirits of the victims. The sense I get from this image is almost ghost like. How you're seeing it here is how it looked. That front wash basin almost looks to me as if it's separated from the rest of the picture.  I can't describe how that came about.

  • I just limited myself. At the photo workshop I attend in March we were forced to pick 5 images for each day. I found it to be a good discipline. Plus, I find that posts with a great number of images tend to overwhelm me. I will post more in coming days.

This is a very good post. I love the picture of the lady at the table. I do wonder what she is thinking about and what her hopes and dreams are... pictures like that make me think. Wash is a fantastic shot and the basin tell of a reality that many don't like to think about. Thanks Tom! Great entry!

  • Wash is great. Woman alone looks lonely or PO'd and tired of waiting for someone.

  • wonderful images. I have to wonder what the woman's thinking, too. Hopefully she's waiting for someone who was just a little late. The Wash pic is truly beautiful, Tom--great.

The ladie waiting....love the stret and buildings, she's wondering how she forgot her camera..and now she has wasted a chance to get some great shots. The laundry....great...just wish it had some more light tones in it....nice post.

  • I'm with the crowd it seems on this one, hangin out the wash is a great shot, reminds me of old instamatic shots my friend used to bring home from her vacations in Germany in the 70's, not much has changed. Of course your shot is much clearer and filled with color and detail

  • Another great set of photos. Wish I had the discipline to limit my number of photos to post. Will try in the future to do that. With digital now days, the tendency is to shoot more . and cul the best from the batch.
