T-shirts
Good news! The long wait is over!  The t-shirts have arrived!

I'm gonna give an estimated ship date of Tuesday.  I'll keep y'all posted.  Sorry about the delay for all this.  The really good news is I ordered enough this time around to keep an inventory.  Your next order will probably ship within one or two days rather than 3-4 weeks.

Downtime for upgrades
After nearly four years in operation, I'm gonna ditch the peice of crap database that is mysql and migrate Photographica and artClick to Postgresql. This is going to be a substaintial migration and will probably bring the site down for an entire day. Depending on various factors, I might do it tommorow or monday. I will give you an advanced sorry, but in the end it will give me the right tool to make this website a much better, more reliable place.

  • I'm gonna "practice" the migration a couple times on my development copy of photographica. The biggest problem, I predict, will be when I enforce any kind of referential integrity at the database level. I imaging there are all kinds of mucked entries that refer to long defunct other entries. The thing that will take the most time will be massaging the database dump from mysqlism's to postgresism's. Turns out mySQL doesn't really enfore the kinds of things a real database system does. I'm excited though - postgres is the first step in a LONG list of improvements to this website.

  • I don't believe so, Jimmy--you just won't have access while it's being done. Cory, I understood the word "the" in that paragraph. The rest I'll take your word for. Will this eliminate those dang "internal server errors" that we've been troubled with?

  • There will be *zero* loss of data in this process. The only thing that will change is the behaviour of tag entry; I haven't worked out all the kinks in the "here are some tags that might be better" system. I'm not sure where those Internal Server Errors are comming from - they could be related to the database, or they could be related to some as of yet unknown cause.

Thanks, Cory, for all your hard work and I hope the migration goes well for you. Yes, I too, am hooked on Photographica and wonder what I will do with a whole day without being able to visit with all of you, but fortunately Cory is picking this weekend and I think there will be a lot of other things to do tomorrow and Monday. Oh, I am back in the classroom amost full time again on Monday after having my student teacher doing her full time teaching for the week before Spring Break and the week after Spring Break.

Today I got for more than three hours the sign " internal Error" and I couldn't post in this time (from 6:30 pm to past 9:00 pm )I am so glad you are going to update, if everything goes better I am going to register as a subscriber, I didn't do it inmediatly because posting was not really a happy thing for me to do it.I got several Internal errors reports and problems to upload my pictures even following every step that you post in the " help " link. I think you will have less anonymous visitors ( 210 at midnight central time )and more people willing to became a Subscriber if Photographica update. Thank you CoryKing! May God Bless you in this photographica update, yourself and your family. Miztli
