Sea of oil

My girlfriend dragged me to the beach last weekend so I thought I'd take me camera (just incase). I got this shot at sunset over the Wash in eastern England. The photo was intensionally under exposed to bring out the orange... but this had an effect on the water. To me it looks like a sea of oil. I think it came out more interesting because of it.

Nice job. Sometimes you have to force the camera to see things the way you want them to be seen.

Wonderful shot... great choice for preserving the orange. The gulls in this really make the photo awesome.

Have to agree, the gulls add a little extra to the picture..it is probably me, but could not see what you meant by sea of oil.

It all depends on your computer monitor. Mine is calibrated so that I get pure white whites and rich black, so the sea looks very dark and highly reflective.

See what you get when your girlfriend drags you to the ocean??? (Yup, I'm one of those). Great shot... the birds, the color, the contrast. Well done.

the birds do play a big contrast to the firey sun, the grandeur of God's creations always a fantastic study when caught in the way you did.

Great capture, composition & colours. Good to hear from a fellow Brit. I'll have to spend some time over there, as I'm in Peterborough. Look forward to seeing more of your work. ;-)
