Turns out the lomos don't work. I got them in a bulk of 3 on ebay.. the one my boyfriend retained does work, the two I got do not. Oh well I guess. The Popup Link

problem on the Smena Symbol is that the lever is supposed to raise to a 90 degree angle to advance the film. Then the Popup Link

Smena 8m just doesn't seem to work for some reason or another. It's a relatively old camera, so I'm sure that's a contributing factor. I've been taking them apart to try to see if I can fix it on my own, but it doesn't look like I'll be able to. RIP Los Smenadores.

Anyway, due to the loss of two things I've anxiously anticipated for over a month [the shipping from Russia to here took THAT long] I was a little too bummed out to take pictures. So I just decided to throw in two leftovers from this week. I hope you like them.

I let him keep the other one.. he's insisting on buying me another.. so I might end up getting a new one. He's been getting really into photography and doesn't have a camera so I would feel very selfish taking that away from him when I have a digital that I can use. Plus he's the one that bought the three so I felt he had the rights to the working one.. har har.

Sorry to hear the camera's don't work. Several places sell new ones for around $50. The new 35mm Holga's are around $25.

Sorry that your camera find failed - you have a good attitude about it. You still are a talented young lady so keep taking those good pictures. I also like that self portrait.

Out of curiosity, have you tried the lomo photoshop action -- you can convert your digital image into a lomo look-alike.

sorry to hear about your cameras...were they all the smena model? The Lomo LC-A model is what has made Lomography so popular...you can check out lomography.com. Keep looking on Ebay..I got mine for $35. There is also a very reputable seller...his username/id is: cupog and his store is Cupog Collectible Cameras. He is from Slovakia. I've bought a lens from him and ocassionally I see the Lomo LC-A. I've seen other recommendations for him from other people in other photo forums as well. I also use a lomo plug-in called melancholytron (not free) from flamingpear.com for my digitals..there is a freeware Lomo plugin as well...but I didn't like it as much.
