I've been racking my brains trying to decide what to do for my first post since I joined this great site several weeks ago.  Finally, I decided to start by sharing photos from my favorite place I've ever visited...the Grand Canyon.

I worked at the Canyon in 1986, and have revisited it on 4 occasions since then.  It was a great place to work, but with views like these, it made the job easier.Popup LinkOverlook 1 Popup LinkOverlook 2 Popup LinkOverlook 3
I've hiked to the bottom of the Canyon more than 10 times.  Some of the trails are easier Popup LinkTrail than others. Popup LinkHermit

The second trail is called Hermits Trail, and after you hike several miles, you come to Dripping Springs. Popup LinkDripping As you can see, it's appropriately named.  It was much easier to see formations like Duck on a Rock!Popup LinkDuck

The Grand Canyon is famous for it's sunsets, Popup LinkPurple Haze and the weather can be unpredictable, Popup LinkStorm but when you get that once in a lifetime shot it makes you appreciate the experience even more. Popup LinkLightning

I can't wait to go back next year!

  • Welcome and those are some beautiful views. I hope to see them with my own eyes some day but until then I am glad to have someone like you taking the shots and sharing them.

Some nice shots there! They bring back some great memories. I worked there the summer of '83. It was a great experience wasn't it?

  • Thanks for all the great comments. Digging those photos out brought back a lot of great memories. One of the things I like about Storm is that it's a color photo.

  • Welcome to the site, Bruce--great first post. The Canyon is one of those places that no photo seems to do it justice, but yours are dang close to what I remember! Love the storm shot especially. What a place!
