In My Studio

I've been working endless hours and things have been so busy in my life that I haven't had time to get out in the field and do photography. My wife grows flowers in her greenhouse and I thought I could take advantage of her green thumb and get the photography fix I needed. I have a garage studio I use for portraits and still life stuff, so I set up and shot some images. Here are a few:

The first shot is my favorite. IMO it would be even nicer if it was not so centered. The rule of thirds. But that is just my opinion.

  • I think anymore off-center would have created too much static space, don't you think Penny?

Maybe even just a tighter crop. With the flower more to the right hand side. Not a ton of empty space but more on the left then on the right. Nothing drastic. I just think it would make the pic a little more interesting. I love the shot don't get me wrong. I just think it would make it a little more interesting.

Perfection and Red Lilly are my faves but I agree with Penny a little tighter crop from the sides might be better. A beautiful shot though, just a suggestion.

Beautiful shots but I agree with the thirds rule and I would have shot them in portrait not landscape.

  • Well, I don't agree with the rest. I think there is to much red in the lilly shot, something softer would showcase the beauty of the flower a bit more, and the second "Pieris" is unique and simple in its beauty. But they are all on the WOW scale.
