Fantastic lightning! Broken is a wonderful shot. Birds are beautiful. My best guess, since I can't see the throat, would be a White throated sparrow. Good shootin'!

White throated has yellow by the eyes, so I don't think so..very similar though in other ways.

Great pictures of the lightning! From Peterson's field guide, I would say it is a White-Crowned Sparrow. Characteristics are clear grayish breast and crown striped with Black and white.

I especially like the B&W particularly with the selective color. All great shots. The lightning is really of interest to me: that will be one of my upcoming personal assignments...we are moving into thunderstorm season here in North Texas and hopefully I can capture some!

I love those stormy night cloud. Lightning is one of nature's work of art, dangerous but beautiful. We had thunderstorm and lightning with heavy downfall here, in this few weeks, small flood here and there.

Jack, that was one of my personal goals, to be able to capture lightning....I did it! I was so proud! It probably won't happen again, but at least I did it once! I don't like 'em either, Penny; I was determined to get a shot, though! Thanks for telling me what kind of bird that is! And, thanks for all the comments!

That last lightning shot is awesome............have not been able to do that yet.......like the way the light is showing on your shrooms.....and your bird pictures are always good.

Mrs N, awesome pics... especially the storm. I have wanted to capture some pics and do a post on storms, but no such luck. so i will just tag my prose to your pics :O) The wind now softly betrays herself Long before her rage will be. Kissed by her soft whispers, Even now I cling to thee. The skies begin an early dim So fast the bright sun will hide. Before the first cloud shadows us, I cling to thy side. The sweet savor of the distant rain Reminds me of this morn. But now we flee together From this approaching storm. No sanctuary avails itself Extinguished all but this remnant of light.
