Dreaming

Sometimes Popup LinkI like to dream. This regular, real world is fine, but what of other worlds, other realities, other potentialities?

I dream I am a Popup Linkmastadon, thundering through the city, crushing cars, flinging those annoying political signs with my long tusks. I am king.

I dream I am ancient, Popup Linksolid. I have been here for thousands of years, watching the short-lived people come and go like a "flower quickly fading, a wave tossed in the ocean, a vapor in the wind." Thousands, perhaps millions have passed me by - some look, some notice, some ignore, some avoid. But I am still here, and will remain.

I dream I can Popup Linkfly. I make a great big paper airplane, don my cape, and make sure I remember my sunglasses; where I'm going, I will need my sunglasses. I stand on the top of the Popup Linktallest building I can find, launch my plane and Popup Linkjump aboard.

I dream of flying to the sun. I will not be like Icarus; my plane is magic, protecting me, carrying me, lifting me - body and spirit.

Anyone Popup Linkwatching the Popup Linksunset over the Snake River may see me as I fly far above. They will envy me for I am free, more free than before.

I will fly so high, I will Popup Linkhold the sun in the palm of my hand.

Wonderful post, the last four pictures are so fantastic and clear. You had to have been very patient to get them just right.

great post reminded me of this.... My dream thou brok'st not, but continued'st it. Thou art so true that thoughts of thee suffice To make dreams truths and fables histories; Enter these arms, for since thou thought'st it best Not to dream all my dream, let's act the rest. --John Donne--

You are a dreamer and a creative one at that. nice tale and you got close to the sun...Icarus. Hold the sun is hot. I summered and worked in Jackson Hole in the 60s...climbed the Tetons and played in the Snake River. Thanks for the flashback.

Thanks for the nice comments everyone. Part of the reason I'm so excited about photography again, is because of all the great people here. You inspire me and encourage me. Thank you. Pablo - I have not read anything by Anne Rice. I'm guessing you asked for a reason. Should I read something by her?

Lowe, actually there are pics of two statues: "Watching" is also of a statue. Next the IB Perrine Bridge, there is a statue of IB Perrine overlooking the river. I caught "him" watching the sunset.
