I met a teenager from our church for a photo shoot Saturday morning down by the Mississippi. It was  Popup Linkcloudy and threatening rain. I got some shots Popup Linkunder the Stone Arch Bridge. I also took some shots of the Popup Linkold mill Popup Linkand new Guthrie Theatre side by side. Unfortunately we got rained out.  We agreed that we'll do it again under better weather circumstances.

I like these shots Tom. I think the gloominess gives them an interesting feel. I love the first shot.

cloudy.... knocked me outta my chair. the composition - the subject matter - the detail - the coloring - ALL incredible. under the Stone Arch Bridge is brilliant framing.

Loved cloudy. I'd love to see the Guthrie Theater and the Old Mill next to each other with as much detail on the Guthrie Theater as the Old Mill has, but not sure it is possible (that wall distracts me).

These were great Tom! I liked cloudy, if you could add a little info with the shot it would be even better!

Under the stone arch is amazing.

Cloudy was the image of storm clouds reflected in a spillway near the lock and dam on the Mississippi in downtown Minneapolis. The relatively calm pool is to the right and the triangle on the left is a portion of where the water spills down to eventually rejoin the river. You can see from the concentric circles from the one drop of rain that it was going to start raining. I shot the image in raw at 1/80th of a second and an f-stop of f11. Post-processing was done in Camera Raw in CS2, where I adjusted levels and contrast.

I'm on the floor with Debora, Tom. Cloudy is amazing. And I love the old and new structures side by side. They look like mismatched friends. May be your best post yet.

Really thought the first shot was interesting. After I looked at it several times I read your explanation and it was what i thought it was - neat!

I liked Cloudy too, I thought it was mysterious, I couldn't figure out if I was looking down at something really big or something really small! It was unsettling, and I think that is great! (Thanks for elaborating on the shot!)

    cloudy's very good

I liked cloudy Tom but my pick is under the arch I just love the framing of it. And, even though part of the reason I like it is the contrast of the yellow an blue colors in the building and sky, I think it would look great as a B/W also.

Well, Tom, each shot made me wow. But cloudy and arch are really fantastic!

Moodiness of the first shot grabs you but the arch is really so well angled with the eye drawn around from each part of the picture, love that you see this way.

I think the old & new mix is a great shot!
