Could use some help

Hi, I am the web designer (and newsletter editor) for a photo club in Milwaukee.

I was wondering if I could get some feedback from y'all on how the new site design looks and works.

The address for what is up now is:

and the new design is:
http://www.uecpc.org/new

I would appreciate, especially, some input on the gallery section.

Be as brutal as you think you need to be, I really would like an impartial opinion - the club thinks it is great, but they have to agree (or I take my computer and go home :-) o.k., not really, but they don't want to say anything bad for fear of hurting my feelings)

I took a quick peek. The new design is a little bright on my eyes (but I am tired too!) It seems for me it would be a little easier to read with some other color along with the white, sort of like the original page had. But I like the layout of the sidebar better on the new page. Thanks for sharing!

I'm impressed. The galleries load really quickly and are well presented. I'd give you a gold star!

I agree with both the above comments. It is easy to navigate and loads quickly. The stark white background seems a little bright on the eyes.

The new site is much cleaner, Sharp and in focus! The old site isn't a loss tho...Try using PS to sharpen and add new color. The DOF in the top logo is almost non existant, but at least theres not too much happening in the background to distract from the subject...... juuuust kidding ;-) I really do like the new one better.

I like the new site much better. Looks fresh and easy to use. Nice quick load time too. And the gallery was nice to see the thumbs. I like that. If you change the background color I suggest a pale blue. But I go like now. Hope that helps a little.

I like the new better. The white bg doesn't bother me that much but you could tone it down a little and still look white with like fcfcfc value. To me thought there's a lot of whitespace at the top I think it needs tightening up. The top of your page is like being above the fold on the newspaper it's valuable. I'd suggest moving the navigation area up to the right of logo or adding a photo or something other of value instead of the large blank white area. Keep it uncluttered though. I like the new better and you have some great photos in the gallery.

Yes I like the New site but :) the fonts of the capital letters and the fonts colors are boring to me, it look like an old newspaper, not alive, dont have the feeling to explore or browse around. Like loweho said put some great photos to make people wonder and want to see more. Since you are one of the Photographica's member, you can see, once you log into this site, you want to start clicking or posting.... :) thats how the feeling we want from the members... hehehe sorry to type nonsense ( Im just a lad from 21st century) ;)

The background on the new site is very white. I think that can be improved upon. I went to the gallery and could see the thumbnails of pictures. When I clicked on a thumbnail, I could not get the picture to come up. All I seen was a circle design with segments rotating and a diffuse background. I gave up after about 30 seconds. I am on a dsl line at a hotel and the gallery shots from the old website loaded with no problems. Good luck.
