My nephew, who Popup Linkgraduated from high school this past weekend, was Popup Linkco-captain of his football team.  He asked me to come to the game to shoot some pictures for him.  At first, he wouldn't let me on the field.  I guess having Auntie on the field is as bad as having Mom there!  After much debate, i was finally allowed out of the bleachers and into the Popup Linkaction. Friday night high school Popup Linkfootball, with it's notoriously bad Popup Linklighting has to be the most Popup Linkchallenging shoot i have ever done.Popup Link*1,Popup Link*2, Popup Link*3, Popup Link*4.

Great shots, I used to shoot pics at our high school and maintain a website for them. Did it for about 10years. Started out with film, had a sony mavica which worked suprisinglly well, and later the digital rebel. Very fun, very hard to catch the action, and very bad weather usually, at least in Indiana. I like all of them but particularly action, football, #1,and challenging.

Wonderful shots, when my son played HS football all I had was a crappy minolta 35mm and a fugi instamatic so my pictures never turned out that good. After seeing yours, I wish I could go back & do it again!!

My favorites are Lighting, Challenging and #4...for me I really get the flavor and the action going on in the game. With Challenging you're tensing for the big hit and with #4 the runner has bodies flying all around him while he consentrates on the runback. Football can be a game of blurring action.

Graduated and action are my favs of the bunch but they are all good for the circumstances. I was hoping for a picture like graduated when my daughter graduated a couple weeks ago, they didn't do it, maybe because they were inside. Nice post :o)

One of the challenges of taking pictures at a graduation is that you usually are so far away from the action. You did some good work on graduation and on the football shots.

  • liked number 4. I shot football games for a newspaper in Texas. (They really like football there.) I was especially impressed with the tracking in number 4. Very hard to do on purpose. Get a stronger flash and you should be clear of that pesky drag.

All enjoyable to view. Played football and it brought back memories. My favorite is "action", you captured the runner's eyes, his next move ahead of him.

  • For #4 I would use a faster film speed say 1600 and/or faster shutter speed. Possibly include a Flash. You want to stop the actio and suggest motion.

  • Gail...Super shots from mortar boards to running action with all the low lighting blurs. I loved them. The blurring yells of speed...cheers....and smashing impacts enjoyed by most....Bear
