Cascades

After a tough week of pillaging, Pedro the pirate peacock, 'bitty buc, and I like to kick back, relax, and shoot some photos on the weekend.  We cruised on down the highway to Jackson, MI with the intention of attending the Popup LinkHot Air Jubilee. It was so hot around here though that we waited too long, and parking was overflowing.  If only Pedro's cannon would fit in the car!

All was not lost though.  Jackson is also home to the Popup LinkCascades, the largest manmade waterfall in the United States.  As you can see, after dark they're very colorful.  I usually prefer color, but I actually thought this shot looked pretty good in  Popup Linksepia too.  There are steps running along the sides of the falls, so you can get a Popup Linkcloser Popup Linkview of the Popup Linkwater & lights.  Other than the 21 'skeeter bites I incurred during the making of these photos, it turned out to be a good night.

Outside the falls I also captured this image for the new bi-weekly challenge - Popup LinkDouble Manor House.

All really nice shots....like the falls in color and B & W. Worth the 21 skeeter bites!

I liked the color version better Bruce, and my favorite was the double manor shot at the end. Great reflection.

Thanks Jo. I usually don't like anything but color either. Pyro's poem post inspired me to play around. I still like the color version better, but I thought the sepia worked well. I work in Jackson on Mondays, so I may stop by Cascades again with 2 vital pieces of equipment...a tripod instead of a monopod, and a can of bug repellent!

So surprised to see you do a sepia and it worked well. But the color shot is still so very pretty it is my choice. Do go back, these are really nice to look at. The reflection shot works well for the 2's clear enough to see yet rippled.
