  • I like the composition of the first photo. I also like the way the clouds pile up above the hill in the second. However, both are - in my opinion - too dark. But don't let this discourage you. Keep shooting and keep sharing. You'll find this is a great place to grow and learn as a photographer.

Love the sky in your pictures. What time of day were you taking these? That could effect your coloring in the picture - or did you want it black and hence the title?

your first posting ????? you just hit a home run. the first shoot get's a big "UF-AHHHHHHHH" I wouldn't change a thing with that shot. My opinion, it being dark gives it that "gloomy" feeling. I just love it

  • Great first post. I find the dark dramatic in this case ,and adds to the mystique. Sooo Beauty is in the eyes of the beerholder. Art is very personal and a reflection of the creator. Have fun.

  • Love the foreboding feel of these but the first is my favorite. I don't think it's too dark--it would be if you really wanted to see what the trees looked like but it contributes to the feel. Welcome!

Welcome! And these are both pretty nice photos. Not too dark as far as I can see, but since your subject in both of the images seems to be the sky, I would crop a bit off the bottom of each image, but for different reasons. In photo #1, I'd crop the bottom slightly to move the horizon lower and emphasize the sky. In photo #2, I'd crop to get rid of whatever it is in the lower left hand corner of the image - it doesn't add anything to the composition and just confuses the situation. The cloud formations in #2 are amazing. (how come I can never do that!!) Don't let what's in the bottom corner lead the eye away from the clouds....

Whoowee...love these. I love black and white so much but I never do it myself. Dur. These are great pictures and I think you did an excellent job making the clouds a part of the landscape. Thanks and welcome!
