I forgot a couple of shots from my trip to the zoo the other day....Popup Linkheron Popup Linktwo (for the theme)

I have a bit of news to share with y'all.....the trip I went on last week was to China; I spent the week in Shanghai and Suzhou.  It looks like I'll be living there for at least the next two years.  It was quite a culture shock, to say the least.  And, I'm not the easiest person in the world to feed....I'm rather picky....so, my food choices were really small.  I managed to get through the week....and, somehow, I'll get through the next phase of my life.  I have a ton of shots from there, as you could well guess.  I'd like to share some of the housing with you in this post.....some of it broke my heart.....Popup Linkhighrise Popup Linkhousing  Popup Linkheart Popup Linkbreaking

This is a shot of the Popup LinkHyatt; I was told this is the tallest building in Shanghai.  I know I was all the way to the top of it and it scared the bejeesus out of me!  I ate dinner on the 54th floor of the place!  Y'all know how well I like heights.....NOT......

Hope y'all enjoy!

  • We see pictures like this and never get the full impact until you actually see it..you and Mike will be back here before too long with lots of stories and memories. Now that is one tall bldg., can just imagine what you were feeling/thinking when 'traveling' up to the different levels. Your wings are spreading and flying but just never loose sight as to Who is helping them stay 'aflight' You just may have some family visit you over there......so be sure to have an extra pallet to throw onto the floor. :):)

Thank you for your pictures of another culture. One of my colleagues at school went to China for a year with his family to teach English at one of the Universities. It was a good experience, but one you would never forget. Hope your experience there is great also. I also hope that you stay connected to Photographica so we can experience it with you.

Good Luck with the move, Kay! Well, to us that only know you online you won't be moving just posting different pictures. In a way you'll be even closer, with no mountains in between, if you go down to the beach SG may be able to get a shot of you with his gazillion mm lens. I wish you luck and hope you find so much to do the two years just flies by.

Y'all don't know how much I appreciate the well wishes....I know what kind of adjustment it's gonna be, and I'll probably have to lean on y'all a lot to get me through...... I'm sure you'll see so much of China, you'll get sick of it! In the time I was there, I saw so many photo ops.....things I've never seen before except in my mind or in a book. It will be challenging for me photographically, as well as mentally. Lots to adapt to. Lisa, I'll be home for Christmas (do I hear Elvis in the background???) and will stay a while, so hopefully during that time we can meet up; maybe you, me and Sandy can do a photo shoot. Or just have dinner. Or a beer. I think Jo will be ok......I'll leave her LOTS of snickers....and instructions to one of the girls at work to keep her supplied, plus I'll have a direct line to her if I need to really come down hard on her! SG's lens can probably reach that far......I'll just make sure I've got make up on all the time and have my hair fixed so I won't scare y'all to death! Thanks again for the wishes.......smooooooochers........
