Well I went and purchased the new 17-85 Canon Lens for an exciting upcoming event, TBA LOL. Well started off the day heading to a friends house this morning when on the way I saw 8 police cars parked in front of an Apartment building, with camera in hand, I got out of the car and decide to try another thing I have read about. Photo Journalism! First try at it though. These are suspects in an armed robbery at a little store (three doors down from where they all lived). The poor girl working there was pistol whipped. I am glad to see that the local Police were on top of this!

On with the day with the new lens, I went back to the waterfalls where I had  shot the  Popup LinkTwins. Well,  I shot twins at midday and I thought it was a little bright. So today I decided to try it in late afternoon and these are what I got.

I was on my way home when I started to think, what a nice evening. I have seen some wonderful sunset shots and I have never tried shooting some. So I drove to the local park. Grabbed the tripod and set up.

Well that is what I thought were the best of my day with the COOL new lens. Would love to hear opinions, need them for the TBA thing I have coming! LOL Thank you all,

Neat captures on the captures! Those falls are still gorgeous.....I love that first shot! In sunset 1 I think I would've had the lamp post a little more to the right, and got just a little more of the post in there, my opinion only. 2 is more balanced and in 3 I would've cropped the tallest tree out of the right side. But, what do I know?

  • Way to go on the 'capture'....... Like Twins revisited better than your first visit, #1 waterfall is my pic of these..and sunset 3 with just a slight cropping of the tree on the right would be my pic.

Great post, Reilly, have fun with the new lens. And the bust shots were great captures just remember to be careful and give the facts straight and use the term suspects (you did) to protect yourself if you caption shots like that. Just because suspects are taken into custody in handcuffs doesn't mean they'll actually be arrested for any crime. If you state the crime make sure it's from a reliable source. If a guy is taken into custody for failure to appear in traffic court and you hear a rumor in the crowd that it's child molesting and state that he wil probably try to sue you. Well, you get the idea, be careful, especially if you intend to sell the photos to newspapers etc.

  • Of the waterfall series, I liked #3, but I think twins looks more refreshing.
