I hope I haven't taken my last pictures of the Popup Linkhummingbird babies...They have grown so fast in the last day or two. There are stillPopup Linktwo. Mama now gives us buzz jobs! She isn't happy at the picture taking! So not the best quality...Taken with the Sony F707. It is just easier with it!.
The babies just look at us and say...Does this Popup Linknest make us look Popup Linkfat??

Every morning that I go out to see them, I am afraid that they will be gone. I have really enjoyed them...
ClassyShot..you asked what kind they were?? I don't know, They are kinda bland with a little green on their back but not much....What kind are they?   Enjoy!

According to my book it looks like you have Anna's down there. They are the ones I have all year. Looking at your little ones that is what I think they are. This is one of the female Anna's that lives here. Look like your mother bird?

Their little nest is looking snug! What a neat experience. Glad you shared it! Hope you have a few more good mornings with them.

Awww, hopefully when they decide it is time to leave the nest, they will stay in your yard! Great shots!... and Classy that is one great picture!

Amazing what photography drives us to do! Learn the names of birds and plants and places (and their history).

Classy...doesn't really look like her...I'd try to get a pic of her but you intimidate me! Never could I get a photo lie yours...but now my goal is to get one nearly like yours....You still use that special git up to get the hummer to come that close?? Would you build me one??LOL My Mama is really plain... http://www.hummingbirds.net/blackchinned.html She looks like this female but the male doesn't look like this....more later...

They could very well be Black Chinned. I think they are the most common down there. Try to get a look at her throat above her breast. If there is a patch of red feathers she is an Anna's. If not she's probably the other. As for drawing them in.. I have a feeder about 3' off each end of my deck. They are used to eating there as they are the only two feeders up most of the year. They are also very used to me being out there. When they come in to eat and I'm out there I move around slowly and talk to them. They get used to you being there. Most of the time I shoot them with my 70-300mm from about 6' away. I use sequential mode so it will fire off 4 or 5 shots pretty fast. You will shoot lots and get few good keepers. Another tip is set the camera on a tripod, use manual focus and focus on the tip of the feeder or the feeding port you want to use on a multi port feeder. If they keep going to the wrong port take some small caps like off water or soda bottles and cover the ports you don't want them eating at ;-) Not nice but it works.

Thanks Mike, I try your tips...she likes us when she is at the feeder she doesn't want us near the tree although she may have given up that Idea by now... She sits on a little branch and watches us now. Thanks for the tips... My husband is getting better shots with the sony than I am with the Canon...not Canon's fault...I just can't figure it out and can't read fast enough to catch up with the camera...but soon I hope...
