I flunked!  Tried to capture the heat off a candle for the challenge.  It showed up on a test, but when trying to photograph it, nothing.  However, the flame (in the shadow) was Popup Linkinvisible.

put a verticle wall behind the candle and hit it with a flash. sometimes that will bring out those invisible heat waves as shadows on the wall.

  • MRQUACKERS
Yea, I thought it would be something like that. A strong, single point, non-reflected light -- something I wasn't using.

    Cool shot, love the color!

Nice failure, MrQ! Great shot! You might also try some sort of pattern behind it to better see the heat ripples.

    Not a failure at all.

I like it! Cute candle-stick holder too!! Invisible flame shadow... but, but, but... can a light source HAVE a shadow?? Perhaps if a brighter, lighter light shone on the candle's light, then, would there be a light shadow??? Oh, thinking about it hurts my po' widdle head!!
