There isn't any great trick in finding beauty in a flower, so I just hope that I've not detracted from the spectacle that nature set before me. However, less noticeable but just as interesting is the “bokeh” that consumes the rest of this image.  Bokeh is the art of the blur.  For those of us who wear glasses this phenomenon is deeply frustrating in real life, but in a photograph it can be a spectacular canvas on which we set our crisply focused subject.  Blur allows that which is clearly visible to become beautifully invisible.  I hope you enjoy the flower and the blur.

Sorry, I don't get it...Can't seem to find any focal point to the picture...felt my eyes bouncing all around. It's a good out of focus picture, I'll say that. Pretty color. Couldnt find any definition of bokeh in the dictionary. Is it April Fools Day already?

Yea...i've never found it in the dictionary either...but that's why we've got the internet! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bokeh

I tend to agree with Turbo... maybe it's a little over-Bokehd. I do see the emphasis on the petal tips, which are quite interesting.... but I think it would be a more pleasing photo with more of the flower in focus. I think it's an interesting concept for the invisible theme though!!!

I kind of like it, just the tips are more in focus, they look like they are reaching out to you. Nice colors :o)

Actually, I really do like it. You chose great colors to accentuate the contrast between blur and sharp!

I can see what you were going for. I love the colors and the way the tips of the petals are in focus. I would have cropped it more. You are showing a different side to your talent today.

I like it too, very good colors together.

I did this once but my background wasn't as vibrant. Nice shot!

Good colors, would have prefered to see a little bit more in focus though.

I was reading a UK photo mag called Practical Photography (I think), but anyways... in it there was a photo contest. One of the winning pics was of a hawk that only showed on the edge of the picture as he was flying off. I was surprised to see that it was a winner! This photo reminds me of that one. I commented to my spouse, that I had lots of pictures like that hawk pic, that I thought were just mistakes, but there was something about them that made me keep them and not delete them. Now I know that it was "Bokeh"!! I like your photo and the color. thanks
