Ghosthunting And Goth Bees...

I went to Galveston to investigate a 'haunted' lighthouse, and felt like I had gone Popup Linkback in time...

The only way to reach Bolivar Peninsula is by ferry, from which the supposedly haunted Bolivar Lighthouse is but a Popup Linkspeck on the horizon. Along the way, we glide past an eerie-looking Popup Linkpartially sunken ship. Once on the peninsula, the Popup Linkblack towering lighthouse dominates the landscape, and a Popup Linkforeboding marsh surrounds the lighthouse around back. Popup LinkPrehistoric-looking cranes roamed the marsh grasses looking for a meal, and Popup Linkwaded the waters off of the peninsula.

After a day of ghosthunting, nature called, showing us a bee, and not just any bee- but an angsty, Popup Linkdressed-in-black Goth bee.... and Popup Linkgargoyles kept watch over the descending sunlight. A ghostly moon Popup Linkpeeking through blossomed trees gave a final otherworldy touch to the unforgettable day...

too cool shady... the sails are just awesome and really do have the historical feel... any johnny depp types handy?? yummmm.... looks like that sunken ship has been there forever... no plans to remove it i wonder? never saw an all black bee... but then again i've never seen most of the wicked cool stuff you post... at first i thought the light on top of the gargoyles was the moon... awesome shot.

  • Beautiful set. I used to take the family to Galveston every summer. I can remember the old concrete sunken ship, and the ferry boat rides. Lots of good shooting down there. Lets see more!

Way to go, Shady! Loved the cranes, sunken ship, towering lighthouse and the goth bee! Didn't see any ghosts at the lighthouse? I noticed you got some orbs in those last two shots.

  • TY so much everyone :) Sopris & loweho (orbs- haha hee!)... unfortunately I didn't see any ghosties in the lighthouse, darn. But it is a fascinating place, nice bit of history and it has a bit more of a spooky rep due to the fact that no matter how often it's cleaned/restored it turns pitch-black all over again. Groovy. javsmom... awwwww, thanks! I had never seen an all-black bee before that day myself, I think it is a male Field Cuckoo Bee (at least according to what I have been able to find out) And nope, no JD in sight around the piratey ship, doh, but seeing that did make me feel like a Goonie! LaPineian- inspiring someone to go out and explore weirdness is the hugest compiment I could be paid- yay! Thank you. And, belleboe, yes Galveston is incredible.... I only had a half-a-day to explore it but I really wanna go back soon! Thanks again everyone, I really appreciate the feedback!!! :)
