Quiet Mode

I've been here. Just in one of my quiet and working too hard modes.

I got my new/used Vivitar 283 off EBay the other day and got a chance to play with it today as far as freezing wing motion on hummers. Still a little too much daylight when I took Popup Linkthis one this evening but I think there is a chance this is going to work. When I get a chance early morning or on a cloudy day I'll give it another shot and see what happens.

BTW.. this is a young male Anna's. You can see the red spots starting to develop on the upper part of his head.

Classic Flash, the first auto flash I owned. Had it for years, very powerful, gave it to a friend when I gave her my old AE-1. It was still in fine shape. Had broken the plastic flash mount in the past but did a little plastic "welding" and worked as good as new. Hope you get many more great shots out of it like this one. Awesome hummer!

Another amazing shot, someday I will get it down, but in the mean time I will practise practise practise. I am running out to time for this year. Thanks for showing us what a hummer photo should look like :o)

  • Thanks all. In the next day or two I'll grab the other camera and get a shot of the setup I'm using for most of my shots. The biggest thing is hanging a feeder where you spend a lot of time and letting the birds get used to you. Once they know you aren't going to hurt them and they get used to the camera noise it is easy to get the shots.

Great Classy, I would love to see it. I do sit out on the deck to get them used to it, my main problem is they are more concerned about keeping the other guy away than of me sitting there. Thanks!!!
