Only a couple of days since the hummers met "the hand."  This years crop turned out to be quick to use "the human perch!"  Take a look and see....

Sky..... send 25 cents and a self stamped, self addressed envelope to..... Just Kidding!!!! There is no secret formula. He started doing this last year. You have to be able to stand absolutely still for a LONG time.... until they seem not to notice you. That is why the feeder is tilted in the shots, cause he is hanging on to it! Last year he swore by wearing this red flowered baseball hat... but now he can go out there in anything, and they don't pay any attention to him. They buzz our heads while we fill the feeders, they are just fearless! My theory is that they are this way during migration. The summer ones don't sit on his finger. This time of year they put their desire to drink over any of their normal fears I think....

I still wanna be there during migration! This is amazing........I've never seen this many hummers at one time before...........well, except in your posts........ It's hard to decide between the two shots, but if I had to choose, I think it'd be the second one........I think.................

Cool! I would have to pick "Uno" out of the 2 for overall composition.

  • jeffrey
    beautiful and fanciful detail

    - believe...

  • Sopris
    Very cool!! Uno for me!

  • LaPineian
SO very neat! Love them all, but if I had to pick it would be Uno.

  • MRQUACKERS
Beautiful hummers. Liked #1 for the clarity of the individual birds. Liked the compositin in #2. (would like better without the oil torch.) Both (heck, all) are good.

Wow, to have that many hummers visit you at once is awesome....have really enjoyed seeing them at my place this year. Like Uno best--more clear for me.

Wow...that is just awesome.....your patience has paid off.....like uno the best but I would clone the little table and flower out....beautiful.

  • lilbit
    awesome!

Great shots. Of the two I like uno better, but it is close. It is very possible I could change my mind if the feeder on the left in dos was cropped out. That is just my opinion though.

  • sceneangel
Yep like the others said, both are so very good. Uno for the clarity but if you had to pick just one it would be Dos as the comp on it is much better with the position of the birds. I did the old cover-up of the feeder just to see the diff and I think it adds depth so IMO I would leave it....just my eyes.

  • RobinG
Great shots, I am soo envious. I pick uno, but they are both great. We had a bunch of friends over sunday and my 3 hummers kept feeding, they didn't mind all the people, I was surprised. :o)

  • TxBill
again wonderful shots, I am going to keep trying to get some better ones, for now just happy to be able to watch them thanks for the pictures
