Today we drove down to Henderson, Minnesota for Henderson Heritage Days.  I took a hike up to the local cemetery.  It was an overcast day so I thought some close in work would be best.  Here is a marker for a woman who had a fascinating first name--Popup LinkExperience Bennett. She died in 1875 at the age of 70 years, 6 days.  She was a Popup Linkmother. Popup LinkLloyd was some couple's son.  He died too young.

Clear, interesting, and good DOF Tom. I find the lichens on the markers very interesting - you don't see those in the cemeteries around here. You wonder what the story is behind the name given to this woman.

  • Many of you commented on DOF so I thought I'd tell you the settings: Experience: 1/400 s @ f4.5 Mother: 1/250 s @ f6.3 Lloyd: 1/250 s @ f4 When I'm trying to make my subject pop but still provide some perspective without completely blurring the background I like f4 - f5.

Great shots, Tom, I spend a little time in cemeteries doing genealogy research and you always see something interesting but not always what you were looking for. Very nice dof and composition on these, especially liked first and last. Great post!
