In exploring the wonders of Photoshop, I have taken to converting some shots to watercolour. It works especially well when you have a not so good shot, but there is some potential in it. The thumb for example was in extremely low light, too far away for flash plus the car was moving away from me. It was very blurred, and headed for the digital bin, but I like the finished result in watercolour. They look great when printed & framed at high quality. Here are some others to compare. Do you agree?

Shop vs Shop 1
Florence vs Florence 1
Alley vs   Alley 1
Pigeons vs Pigeons 1
Underground Underground 1
Kings X Kings X 1

I like what PS can do, but this set is better without the alterations. Looks like you used find edges for the effect. If you want to make the lines stronger, try fading find edges but chose multiply and then drop it down below 50. If you like the effect, maybe go back in with your history brush and tone it down. Just some suggestions. Your shots are great, especially the pigeons and alley.

I am not a fan of shots too altered in PS. Some is okay. I like effects more enhance the original object. Like my skateboarder shots I kept the subject in tact and did a bunch of grunge around it. But it is all a personal thing too......I do like the original images!!

  • I like the originals but really like the altered versions best. As penny said, it's all a personal thing. I really liked the pidgeons both shots! Those would be my fav. Great set!

As a photographer I like the originals best also, but I can see the merit in playing with a shot for artistic quality, either way these are terrific.
