We went up to Calico for Thanksgiving or for us Native Americans- What Were We Thinking Day and we had great time. We brought our up 2 tipis and our 4 friends  brought their 2, so we had a nice Native camp for the people. Here are some of the sights around town...

The local five star....
The general store...
The one room school house...
The local pokey....
One of the livelier signs at Calico...
I captured this odd couple on main street....

Well now you know I said it was a ghost town..

A little fire face....

Comments welcome!
Blessing!

Super shots. Crisp clear shots. But what are the spots in the old school house shot sky?

  • Great composition in all. To echo what everyone else said, b&w was the perfect choice. What's the story behind the ghost town? Wonderful post!

  • did you know all those buildings were moved there and the only thing that is real is the Dump at Calico... yep all the buildings are old movie sets... moved starting in the early 60's... but your post bring back lots of child hood memories... thanks and great shooting....

  • Well actually there was a mine there that produced Silver for about 2 year. There was was a settlement, but it was much smaller than what's in the "Ghost Town" now. I have picture of that too.

  • Totally enjoyed seeing these, Andrea, and loved your presentation of the town in B&W. The odd couple was a neat shot, and even if they aren't the original buildings, they do give us a glimpse of what life was like in the early west.
