My Granddaughter, Rachel, took a Gymnastics class for a while, and this is how we see her most of the time.................Going Going 2 Gone Gone 2 Gone 3 And Done

This is why the photolog should still be working.

Try working on more interesting angles and also on the composition. Position yourself closer and get an action shot. The composition needs some work here. The shots have some major hot spots. Also the rule of thirds if a great thing to learn. So your subject is not so centered. Composition and rule of thirds can make a snapshot into a great photograph.

  • I know about the rule of thirds, but, as helpful as your suggestions might be, these photos were taken while she was moving and in rapid bursts, so didn't really have time to think about the framing, just wanted to have some fun shots of her tumbling across the yard. In future, I will try to be more professional about the shots I post, as not to offend anyone's sense of compostion, lol.

I should not have left my comment hanging there without an explaination. You did get your fun shots of your granddaughter, but we do not have any emotional attachment to these shots like you do. You posted them in a place that is for suggestions for improvement. The lighting is harsh and it blows out your image, not the right time of day for these shots. They're not in focus, difficult to do with a moving subject, but that doesn't change the fact that they're not in focus. The photolog used to be a place for fun shots that weren't ment for getting comments on how to improve them.

I gotta agree with Birdie and Penny. From a grandmother-emotional-standpoint, these are good for you. From a photographical standpoint for us, these need improvements. No offense meant.

  • These would also have been improved by the use of a storyboard. Individually, the shots are completely meaningless. Combined into a storyboard they could have been salvaged and certainly made much more interesting. Ask KayN about storyboard--god knows I don't know how to do them!!!
