The Masses, The Individualist, and The Defeated

There used to be a time in this country when we were taught to think for ourselves...in fact we were encouraged in that effort.  To be an individualist was not considered to be a bad thing, yet today it seems that to espouse your own opinion that is contrary to that of the popular notion brings with it the damnation of the masses.  To speak of morality, honesty, truth, valor, honor, strength, fortitude, fidelity, brotherhood...has seemingly become taboo.  Yet, we see daily that we are wanting in all of these things...we see it on the news, at work, in the homes, on the street.  What used to be called good is no longer considered good...and things once thought to be bad is flaunted and held high as a standard.  I don't mean to be preaching here...I'm just sick of all the "stuff" going on in this country and am not afraid to say so.

  • Awesome photography and I agree with your sentiments. There is no longer a black and white, an up and down, or a right or wrong. It has become a grey, foggey mess.

  • Somebody said, "All it takes for evil to prevail is the silence of good men". I think there are a lot of silent good men who just don't know what to say. It is nice to hear someone (like yourself) express all our concerns.

  • Beautiful shots and heartfelt sentiment. Good for you! Brave people need to make their voices heard, who don't like the way things are going in this great country of ours.

  • I read this, but don't know the author: "Silence is the language of complicity." Your first photo evokes the same feeling in me as that sentence.
