Help Wanted

First of all, I apologize for the focus being a little 'soft', but this was 300mm and handheld, through a storm window.

This guy showed up at my feeder tonite, for the first time, and I could use some help with the identification. Is it a young bluejay, or is it a bluebird? Take a look and let me know, please. Thanx!

What a beauty, it's a mountain blue bird (according to Sibley's guide to birds pg. 400,I checked just to make sure)-or maybe not.

Looks Like A Indigo Bunting To Me. Mountain Bluebirds Are More Common In The West. Good Catch!

Thank you ever so much! If it will help with the I.D., I'm just outside of Warrenton, Virginia, about 60 miles west of D.C.. I've had the feeder out for 4 years, and have never seen anything like this before.

It's An Indigo, For Sure...I Knew You Were Located In Virginia. Indigos Are Very Common Here In The Spring And Summer Months. They Are Real Beauties.

We have western blue birds here and I've never seen a mountain bluebird or an indigo bunting outside of a book - sounds like rockadee might know more about this.

Great capture. I love them. I used to get them in my feeders haven't seen one in a long time. Just a little info on them. They are actually all black but reflect blue.

Yes, looks like the indigo bunting to me too! And if you have them, then be on the watch for the Painted Bunting, he is red, yellow, green, and blue.... they usually are around at the same time. I have both right now, but haven't gotten any good shots yet....
