The Disposable Mystery

My computer and I have been at odds lately, and I originally didn’t plan on participating in this challenge because I had to update the drivers on my scanner.  However, I was going through a box of junk yesterday, and found a disposable camera that had 6 shots left on it.  I flipped it over, and the expiration date on the bottom was December, 2002.  I couldn’t for the life of me remember what might have been on this camera, and what would they look like 5 years after the film expired?  I shot off the last 6 shots in order to solve the mystery, and ran the camera down to Ritz last night.

Well, the mystery was solved…sort of.  There were shots of a  Tiger’s baseball game from either 2001 or 2002.  All I remember about the game is the Tigers lost…which wasn’t unusual back in 2001 or 2002.  Of the 20 shots that were originally on the camera, only 8 came out, and most of them looked like  this!   Even more of them were a grainy pink with odd shapes and colors .

As for the ones  I took yesterday, well they were pretty grainy too.  Here are the 4 best.

Life is a Highway Had one shot left before I got to Ritz!

Pain at the Pump   Okay,  between this and the baseball game, it’s obvious that disposables aren’t good for telephoto shots!

Pyramid of Hats   Hey, I was trying to use up the film…

And most importantly,  the line-up of toys I appreciate more than ever!

This had to be the most evil challenge to date. My lens cap is off to all of you who gave it a whorl.

Impressive outdated experiment. This is cool with composition and great grain. Toys is a nice show and tell.

That's a collection of toys built up over a 25 year period. All 6 bodies still work...some better than others, kinda like me.

Sounds like the film in disposables sort of self destructs after the expiration!

  • msjudi
nice find... not too bad of shots... since the film was so old...

Arrr, matey. I believe the age did it in. However, I like the first and the last shot. Not too shabby.
